Speaker Koon Confirms Social Media Photos With Guinean President, As Both Leaders Assure To Maintain Bilateral Relationship

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Nagbe Koon of Electoral District 11, in Montserrado County, has confirmed a widespread social media photo, featuring him and the President of Guinea.

In the photo, the Liberian Speaker can be seen with the President of the Republic of Guinean, exchanging handshakes.

According to the Liberian Speaker, the photo was taken during a diplomatic close door interaction with his Excellency Mamady Doumouya, during the 10th Opening Session of the Guinean National Assembly.

According to Speaker Koon, the meeting was aimed at promoting regional and bilateral cooperation and unity as both leaders promised to maintain peace and stability.

Phoning in on a local radio talk-show from Ghana, Thursday, October 8, 2026, Honorable Koon expressed his gratitude to the Speaker of the Guinean Parliament Honorable Dansa Kourouma for setting the stage to have a diplomatic meeting with President Doumouya.

Koon revealed that he had conversations with the Guinean President on the situation at the Solumba border in Lofa County so that it can be resolved amicably.

Speaker Koon quoted President Doumouya as asserting that both countries have come a long way and do not intend to create any instability, as the Guinean leader promised to work with President Joseph N. Boakai Sr. to restore calm.

He said the one-on-one meeting with President Doumouya was actually centered around ” Unity” looking at the transactions in goods and services between the countries and how they can fast-track a resolution to solve the border issue.
