MONROVIA, Oct. 18 (LINA) – The House of Representatives has mandated its Committees on Ways, Means and Finance and Health to review a US$200,000 budgetary request submitted by Nimba County District #4 Representative Ernest Manseah to support two health facilities in the district.

The request seeks US$150,000 for the completion of the Garplay Town Health Center and US$50,000 to support the operations of the Senlay Clinic in Nimba County Electoral District #4.

Presenting his communication to plenary on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Rep. Manseah emphasized the need for government support to resume and complete construction of the Garplay Town Health Center, which he said had stalled due to a lack of funding.

According to the lawmaker, the estimated US$150 thousand would cover essential construction works, including roofing, electrical installations, and plumbing, as well as the provision of medical supplies needed to make the facility operational.

Rep. Manseah also proposed allocating US$50,000 to the Senlay Clinic to cover staff salaries, procure medical equipment, and improve access to healthcare services for residents of the area.

He disclosed that the Garplay Town Health Center was established by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health in 2016.

However, construction was halted due to insufficient government funding.

The lawmaker stressed that financial support for both facilities would help improve access to healthcare services for residents of Garplay Town and surrounding communities.

He therefore appealed to his colleagues to consider allocating the requested amount in the 2027 national budget to support the completion and operation of the two facilities.

Following the reading of the communication, plenary mandated the Committees on Ways, Means and Finance and Health to review the request and report their recommendations to the full House for legislative action before the submission of the draft national budget.
