Senator Konneh Welcomes President Boakai’s Nominations To LDEA

By Amara Konneh

MONROVIA, Aug. 13 (LINA) – In less than twenty-four hours after the nomination of Retired Major General Daniel D. Ziankan by the President of Liberia, to head the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), social pundits and other national leaders including Gbarpolu County Senator, Amara Konneh have embraced the decision of the President – the Senator has promised his fullest support using his office at the Liberian Senate to combat illicit drug traffickers in Liberia.

Senator Konneh said that the nomination of Ziankan, considering his strong security and military leadership, brings a strong operational record to an agency that urgently needs stability and direction in the fight against illicit drugs.

He said in a social media post that despite the nomination of an individual who has extensive security knowledge and other deputies to serve as the new  leadership, it does not automatically fix the system.

Senator Konneh cautioned the newly appointed LDEA Boss to use the following tools as an instrument to implement and execute the agenda to fight against illicit drugs.

He recommended that the newly appointed team at the LDEA should follow self-policing, full transparency and systemic cleaning, adding that with these and if they are considered as working tools, the fight against drug trafficking in Liberia would definitely be achieved.

At the same time, the Gbarpolu County Lawmaker wishes Director Ziankan all the best in his journey particularly during the confirmation at the Liberian Senate and upon confirmation leading to his tenure.

Meanwhile, Senator Konneh stressed that the fight against drugs in Liberia will only be taken seriously when no official regardless of rank is above true accountability.
