The three-day gathering, organized by FAAPA, brings together heads from news agencies across the Atlantic African region that are FAAPA Executive Council Members and partners to discuss collaborative strategies and future projects.

According to Mr. Tarr, this meeting offers LINA a valuable platform to forge partnerships and enhance collaboration with other African Press Agencies as well as partners.

“This is my first meeting on the FAAPA Executive Council, and it is an eye-opener for me personally,” said Mr. Tarr, highlighting the significance of the event for strengthening networks and partnerships.

He said the agenda of the meeting includes reviewing FAAPAโ€™s 2023-2024 action plan, deliberations on the FAAPA Grand Prize for outstanding journalism in articles, video, and photography, and an analysis of the final report from FAAPAโ€™s 7th General Assembly.

He indicated that participants will also discuss ways to boost FAAPAโ€™s presence and activities, both within Africa and internationally.

The event, according to him, was preceded by an inaugural conference on the theme: “African Press Agencies: Strategies in the Face of Artificial Intelligence,” which addressed the challenges and opportunities posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the media industry in Africa.
