House Reviews Proposed Act Seeking To Establish Bong Mines Vocational Training Institute

MONROVIA, July 3 (LINA) – In an effort to expand vocational training centers across the country, the House of Representatives has taken a decision to examine the Bill aimed at formulating Bong Mines Vocational Training Institute.

The bill, when supported and passed, intends to empower Liberian citizens with professional skills that will supplement and equip them with the requisite skills that will help them improve their lives and living conditions.

Proffering the bill before plenary, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, during the House’s regular sitting, Rep. Foday Fahnbulleh of Bong County District #7 stressed the significance of establishing a vocational training center to improve the skills of Liberians in that part of the country.

According to him, the proposed bill aligns with the government’s broader agenda and responsibility to expand and equip Liberians by obtaining well-developed skills that will contribute to a workforce that has the needed abilities and professional skills to Liberia’s development.

He added that the institution will provide special technical training that the country needs geared toward enhancing self-reliance, workforce capacity, economic development, and improved and sustainable rural development.

The Bong County lawmaker further delineated in his communication that when the institution is established it will definitely benefit the youthful population and surrounding communities, seeking the indulgence and support of his colleagues to have the bill supported.

Making the motion, Rep. Nehker E. Gaye of Nimba County stressed the importance of the draft bill, requesting that the Committees on Education and Public Administration, Judiciary, and Ways, Means, and Finance take charge of the instrument and report to plenary before the closure of the current session.

Meanwhile, in pursuance to legislative tendency, the Plenary of the House of Representatives tasked the following Committees: Education and Public Administration, Judiciary, and Ways, Means and Finance to scrutinize the proposed bill aimed at enacting the Bong Mines Vocational Training Institute.
