MONROVIA, July 3 (LINA) – Presidential Press Secretary Kula Bonah Fofana has called on Liberian youth to put aside political differences and work together in promoting unity, inclusiveness, and national development.
Speaking over the weekend, at the inauguration of the newly elected leadership of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) in Monrovia, Madam Fofana urged the organization to remain a unifying platform that represents the interests of all young Liberians, regardless of political affiliation or background.
She emphasized that youth empowerment initiatives, including employment opportunities, leadership training, and development programs, should benefit every young person across the country and not be limited to any political group.
“The progress of Liberia depends on the collective efforts of its young people,” she said, encouraging the new FLY leadership to foster cooperation, dialogue, and mutual respect among youth from different political and social backgrounds.
Reflecting on her own journey in youth leadership, Fofana said her years of involvement in youth organizations and later service as Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports taught her the value of collaboration and inclusive leadership.
According to her, although young people may hold different opinions and political beliefs, they must remain committed to working together for the common good of the nation.
Fofana also challenged the Federation to expand its activities beyond Monrovia and Montserrado County, stressing that young people in all 15 counties deserve equal opportunities to participate in national development programs and leadership initiatives.
She welcomed the growing involvement of young women in leadership, describing it as a positive step toward building a more inclusive society. She encouraged the Federation to continue creating opportunities for women while embracing the talents and ideas of all Liberian youth.
The Presidential Press Secretary further called on the new leadership to engage students, community organizations, civil society groups, and youth from across the political spectrum to ensure that the Federation remains truly representative of the aspirations of Liberia’s young people.
She also urged the leadership to seek guidance from former officials of the Federation, noting that their experience and mentorship would be valuable in strengthening the organization.
She congratulated the newly inaugurated leadership of the Federation of Liberian Youth and expressed confidence that, through unity, inclusiveness, and cooperation, the organization would continue to play a vital role in advancing the interests of Liberia’s youth and contributing to national development.
