MONROVIA, Oct. 21 (LINA)-Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Stephen Marka Yekeson has challenged African business practitioners to strengthen trade, promote investment, and pursue business opportunities that can accelerate economic growth across the continent.

Minister Yekeson made the statement Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town outside Monrovia  as Liberia hosts the 7th Prosperity Africa Conference from October 20–22, 2026, in Monrovia.

The conference brings together business leaders, investors, government officials, chambers of commerce, and other stakeholders to explore practical ways of advancing trade and investment in Africa.

According to him, the gathering is expected to provide a platform for African entrepreneurs to establish business partnerships, identify investment opportunities, and strengthen commercial cooperation across national borders.

He maintained that the conference also offers Liberian businesses an opportunity to connect with potential investors, buyers, and business partners from across Africa and beyond.

Minister Yekeson highlighted the importance of private-sector participation in driving economic transformation, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening local businesses to compete in regional and international markets.

He asserted that the conference is expected to feature business-to-business matchmaking, sector-focused deal rooms, exhibitions, trade finance discussions, and engagements on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He pointed out that for Liberia, hosting the conference presents an opportunity to showcase the country’s investment potential and strengthen its participation in continental trade.

Minister Yekeson said the event is being organized by the Liberia Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He noted that the conference is expected to conclude with discussions and recommendations aimed at strengthening business cooperation and promoting sustainable economic development across Africa.
