Ex- LFA Chief Executive Wants National County Meet Transform To Liberia’s Premiership

By Amara Konneh

A former stalwart of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), now political leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Musa Hassan Bility is urging the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth Sports, to redesign the National County Sports Meets into a competitive Premier League as a way of decentralizing and developing football in order to discover future Liberian Talents.

The CMC Political Leader made these remarks on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 on a local radio in Monrovia as he cautioned the Youth and Sports Minister to muster the courage to ensure that the National County Meet transitions from a tournament format and transformed into a major Liberia’s Premiership where county officials and citizens from a particular county would see themselves as being obligated to their county in any given sporting competition as it is done in other countries.

The Ex- LFA Official revealed that during his administration as President of the Liberia Football Association, he designed a blueprint for the development of football where each of the fifteen counties will be supported by the National Budget to build a mini stadium.

He added that the transformation of the National County Sports Meet into a Premier League also gives Liberian players the exposure to compete with other athletes outside of the country.

Bility argued that if implemented, football will develop and Liberia will get on the right trajectory to compete with its counterparts.

At the same time, the former LFA Chief Executive wants the Ministry of Youth and Sports to abolish the current format and allow every county representative and citizens to elect their own sports president who will run the affairs of that county for a period of 4 Years.

He added that under such arrangement, finance should be provided by the government, adding that with such a format, an individual would not have an absolute control over a county and it will ensure that all citizens play key roles for growth and development of the county especially during league season.

Honorable Bility emphasized that once the National County Meet is transformed into a competitive Premier League, every company operating in a particular locality should have an obligation by law to provide financial support while the government plays its part as well.
