MONROVIA, Oct. 18 (LINA) — The President of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Ernest Duku Jallah, has appointed Abraham Keita as Coordinator of the FLY Diaspora Establishment Committee to lead efforts to establish a formal structure for young Liberians living abroad.
According to an appointment letter, Keita will coordinate the committee’s activities, facilitate consultations with young Liberians across the diaspora, and lead the development of a framework for establishing FLY’s diaspora chapter.
He is also expected to work with committee members to develop an implementation roadmap, promote broad representation, and coordinate preparations for the initiative’s official launch in December 2026.
The committee comprises Dennis Zinnah, representing East Asia; Julius Gbowee, representing Europe; Orlando Bloh, representing China; Andy Bropleh Jallah, representing the United States; Ambassador Charles M. Wiles, a Liberian diplomat; Sherman Claudius Sanwon, representing FLY; and Mariama Kamara, representing Rwanda.
The proposed diaspora chapter is intended to strengthen the participation of young Liberians living abroad in FLY programs and provide a platform for them to contribute their knowledge, professional experience, and networks to Liberia’s development.
FLY believes young Liberians in the diaspora can contribute to youth leadership, mentorship, professional networking, and knowledge exchange while supporting initiatives aimed at addressing challenges such as unemployment, education, entrepreneurship, and civic participation.
The initiative follows previous efforts by three former FLY presidents to establish a diaspora chapter, which did not result in a fully established structure.
Through the dedicated committee, the current administration intends to advance the process by developing a framework for membership, governance, and sustained engagement with young Liberians abroad.
The proposed structure is expected to strengthen connections between young Liberians at home and abroad and create more opportunities for collaboration on national development initiatives.
