MONROVIA, Nov. 11 (LINA) – Ahead of the official inauguration of the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex floodlights, former Youth and Sports Minister D. Zoegar Wilson has hailed the UP-led Government for the level of transformation at the national sports stadium, as he vows not to criticize the current ruling party on grounds that the immediate past government did not do much during the six years of leadership.
In a social media video which is being circulated, Wilson maintained that as former Minister of Youth and Sports serving under a President from a soccer background, they did not do much in the soccer arena of the country therefore, he does not have any moral ground to criticize the government.
“Quite frankly, I made a vow not to criticize this government and the reason is simple. I was there for six years as a former soccer player, former President Weah, a former footballer was there for six years, but we did not do much to the expectations of the Liberian People,” Former Minister Wilson emphasized.
He added: as people from a soccer background and understanding of the game, they did not do well to show tangible results and as such why will he criticize a government that is making an effort in sports.
Against this backdrop, the former Minister of Youth and Sports stated that as a patriotic Liberian, he wished the current government well.
Minister Wilson further asserted that from a government perspective, people expected a lot from the former president taking into consideration his background in soccer.
“We did not do well to please the Liberian People for the development of sports in the country; therefore, I cannot criticize anything but all I can wish for is the best.
