LiMA Completes Mid-Year PMCS Verification Exercise

MONROVIA, Sept. 29 (LINA) – The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has successfully completed the mid-year evidence evaluation exercise conducted by the Secretariat of the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS). 

The day-long exercise focused on key target areas under the PMCS initiative, including the development and implementation of strategic plans, service delivery, resource mobilization, system efficiency, and institutional capacity building. 

According to a LiMA statement dated September 22, 2026, the exercise provided an opportunity for the PMCS verification team to assess LiMA’s performance and review supporting evidence relating to the Authority’s implementation of key institutional targets and commitments. 

Speaking during the exercise, Head of the PMCS Verification Team, Mr. Gerald Hanyor, encouraged the Liberia Maritime Authority to continue working diligently and remain committed to adhering to the regulations and requirements of the PMCS. 

According to Mr. Hanyor, the PMCS serves as a critical tool for measuring institutional performance, strengthening accountability in service delivery, and identifying capacity-building needs aimed at improving organizational effectiveness. 

For his part, LiMA’s PMCS Focal Person, Mr. Frederick Varnie, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to the process and its continued efforts to maintain its position as an outstanding performer under the PMCS initiative. 

Mr. Varnie emphasized that LiMA remains committed to strengthening its institutional systems, improving service delivery, and ensuring compliance with established performance standards. 

The Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) is a flagship accountability and performance management initiative of the Liberian government, designed to promote efficiency, accountability, transparency, and improved performance across public sector institutions.
