MONROVIA, April 23 (LINA) – Liberia’s Senior National Team, Lone Star Mobilization Committee through its Chairperson, Rev. Luther Tarpeh, has proposed a US$5 million as targeted amount to be raised through fundraising to support the National Team of Liberia in the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2027 which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Speaking Tuesday, April 22, 2026, at the Ministry of Information Press Briefing, Chairman Tarpeh discloses that the amount which is expected to be raised from fundraisers is aimed at preparing and equipping the national team technically, logistically and competitively for the next edition of the AFCON Qualifiers.

He added that the Lone Star of Liberia is at a critical juncture, and as such there is a need for all Liberians both home and in the diaspora, to unite in support of the national cause as a way of restoring the loss love for the Red, White and Blue in the nations cup over a decade.

“We will engage all Liberians, as well as businesses, corporations, and concessionaires, to contribute to this effort and every dollar raised will go directly toward the preparation of our national teams,” Rev. Tarpeh stated.

At the same time the committee is also exerting efforts with other stakeholders and eminent citizens to finalize plans for the official launch of a nationwide fundraising rally, coupled with a fan-based mobilization drive on May 14, 2026 aimed at reigniting public support for the team.

Chairman Tarpeh cautioned Liberians to rise above political and personal differences despite their affiliation or alignment with a political party, stressing that national pride must take precedence above all others things if Liberia is to return to elite continental competition after a decades of absences though there are memories of underperformance but there is a time to turn a new page with new optimism.

“No one is more frustrated than I am but following my recent appointment and engagements with the players in Morocco, I am convinced that this is the moment to move past our setbacks and rally behind our national team,” Rev. Tarpeh emphasized.
