MONROVIA, June 24 (LINA) – The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that Paul J. King, General Manager of GLS Menzies and a person of interest previously listed as “at large,” has voluntarily presented himself to investigators in connection with the June 8, 2026 cocaine seizure at the Roberts International Airport (RIA).
At a press conference held Saturday, June 21, 2026, Justice Minister Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh said King is now in the custody of the Joint National Security Investigative Task Force and will assist investigators probing the full chain of criminal responsibility tied to the seizure of approximately 237.6 kilograms of cocaine at the RIA.
He further that Mr. King is being held under the supervision of joint security personnel noting his cooperation is expected to support the Task Force’s efforts to establish the complete network of individuals and entities linked to the importation, concealment, transportation, and attempted exportation of the narcotics.
The Attorney General on behalf of the government commended King’s voluntary appearance describing it as “a step toward full accountability” and reiterated commitment to a thorough, evidence-based, and impartial investigation that follows the facts wherever they lead, regardless of position, influence, or status.
Minister Tweh reaffirmed that consistent with the Constitution and laws of Liberia, King will be afforded all protections guaranteed to persons in custody adding he deserves the right to due process, access to legal counsel, and protection from intimidation, mistreatment, or any form of extrajudicial action.
“His designation as a Person of Interest, and his current cooperation with investigators, do not constitute a determination of guilt,” Minister Tweh stressed.
Cllr. Tweh pointed out that in light of this development, the Ministry of Justice renewed its call on all remaining Persons of Interest who continue to evade authorities to avail themselves to the Joint National Security Investigative Task Force without further delay.
“National and international efforts to locate and apprehend all outstanding individuals connected to this matter remain ongoing, and time will not diminish the reach of the law,” he warned.
The Minister said the government through the investigators will continue to update the Liberian public on significant developments in the case, consistent with due process requirements and the integrity of the active criminal investigation.
