Justice Minister Tweh Launches Responsible Citizens Justice Program

MONROVIA, Aug. 14 (LINA) – The Minister of Justice N. Oswald Tweh has officially launched the Third Cohort of the Responsible Citizens Justice Program (RCJP) – an initiative aimed at empowering young Liberians with knowledge of the justice system, the rule of law, and responsible citizenship.

The program, according to Minister Tweh, civic education and mentorship initiative, further described it as an investment in Liberia’s future, stressing that building a just and peaceful society requires citizens who understand their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of upholding the rule of law.

Launched in Monrovia recently, participants of the RCJP will be equipped to serve as ambassadors of justice, integrity, and accountability in their schools, communities, and institutions.

Minister Tweh indicated that the month-long program is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to Liberia’s justice sector through educational sessions, mentorship, and interactions with legal and law enforcement professionals.

He urged the participants to embrace the opportunity with commitment and discipline, noting that the knowledge and experience gained should be used to promote peaceful conflict resolution, respect for the law, and civic responsibility.

“The Responsible Citizens Justice Program forms part of the Ministry of Justice’s broader efforts to strengthen public trust in the justice system and encourage greater citizen participation in national development,” he added.

He explained that the initiative also seeks to inspire a new generation of leaders committed to transparency, accountability, and democratic values.

According to him, the Ministry of Justice expects graduates of the program to become advocates for justice and positive change across Liberia.

Minister Tweh said the program will help to build stronger communities through civic engagement and respect for the rule of law.

The launching was embraced by officials from various justice and security institutions, along with parents, educators, and special guests   who expressed support for the initiative, describing it as an important step toward nurturing responsible and law-abiding citizens.
