MONROVIA, Sept. 29 (LINA) – The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), through its Department of Finance, commenced its internal budget hearing for the 2027 fiscal year, beginning with the revenue component that will inform the Authority’s expenditure framework and program objectives.

According to a LiMA statement dated September 23, 2026, the exercise brought together heads of various departments and units of the Authority to review their projected revenues, planned activities, and resource requirements for the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaking at the start of the process, the Principal Director for Corporate Affairs and Officer-In-Charge, Mr. John B. Cuffey said the exercise provides a continuous opportunity for departments to present plans that align with the institution’s overarching strategic objectives.

Mr. Cuffey emphasized that aligning departmental plans with the Authority’s broader priorities is essential to ensuring that the aspirations and operational needs of individual departments are adequately reflected in the financial decisions of the Authority.

He encouraged departmental heads to approach the process with seriousness and provide realistic projections that are consistent with their respective mandates and planned activities.

For his part, the Deputy Chief Financial Officer of LiMA, Mr. Desiré Satia, underscored the critical importance of the budget hearing process to the effective financial management and planning of the Authority.

Mr. Satia reminded heads of various departments to take their budget projections seriously, noting that the quality and accuracy of departmental submissions are essential to developing a realistic and effective institutional budget.

He further cautioned departmental heads to ensure that their proposed budgets are realistic, achievable, and aligned with their actual operational requirements.

The 2027 internal budget hearing is expected to continue with the review of departmental submissions and expenditure proposals as LiMA works to finalize its budget framework for the upcoming fiscal year.

The process forms part of the Authority’s broader efforts to strengthen financial planning, accountability, resource allocation, and the implementation of its strategic objectives.
