MONROVIA, Nov. 13 (LINA) – The Governance Commission (GC) of Liberia has received a formal invitation from the West Africa Young Parliamentarians Network (WAYPA) to participate in a series of high-level engagements.

The invitation, extended to Professor Alaric Tokpa, Acting Chairman of the Governance Commission, is in collaboration with the Youth Network for Positive Change (YOUNETPO).

A delegation of young parliamentarians from Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal, and Guinea Bissau will visit the Commission’s offices in Monrovia on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.

The meeting aims to articulate the commission’s mandate, showcase its key achievements, discuss challenges in national governance and share the mission and objectives of WAYPA.

The Commission is honored to confirm its participation as a distinguished panelist in the official launch ceremony of WAYPA.

The high-level panel discussion, themed: “Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Youth Political Participation, Entrepreneurship, and Representation in Decision-Making,” will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Ganta, Nimba County.

The West Africa Young Parliamentarians Network emerged from the 6th edition of the Annual Youth Education and Leadership Conference in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. Its mission is to empower and unite young parliamentarians across the West African sub-region to collaboratively advocate for policies that serve the interests of youth.

The Governance Commission views this collaboration as a strategic and timely initiative that aligns with its mandate to promote good governance, inclusive participation, and national development. Engaging with regional young leaders is crucial for shaping policies that address the aspirations of Liberia’s youth demographic and the region.
