ZWEDRU, Oct. 21 (LINA)–The Liberia National Police (LNP) has officially launched a nationwide recruitment exercise across Liberia’s 15 counties, creating employment opportunities for qualified young men and women seeking careers in law enforcement.

In Grand Gedeh County, the week-long recruitment exercise commenced on Monday, October 19, at the Reception Hall near the Zwedru Triangle.

Speaking in an interview, the LNP Team Lead for Grand Gedeh County, ACP Teta Wilson, disclosed that following the initial screening process, successful applicants will be required to submit their formal applications through an official online platform.

According to ACP Wilson, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and possess a valid WAEC or WASSCE certificate, including mandatory passes in Mathematics and English. Candidates must also provide a valid national identification card, birth certificate, passport, or voter registration card, along with three letters of recommendation from their school, community leader, and church or mosque.

She further encouraged greater female participation in the recruitment process.

“Females are especially encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities,” ACP Wilson said.

Applicants who successfully pass the preliminary screening will undergo physical and medical examinations before being selected for training.

Upon completion of training, successful recruits will be required to serve a mandatory five-year term in their country of origin before becoming eligible for reassignment elsewhere in Liberia.

Official LNP workforce statistics indicate a significant gender imbalance within the police service, with men representing 80 percent of officers and women accounting for only 20 per cent. The latest recruitment drive is expected to help address that disparity and strengthen gender inclusivity within the force.
