MONROVIA, Oct. 18 (LINA) — The Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) is seeking to strengthen tourism cooperation with Egypt, with improved air connectivity between the two countries emerging as a key priority.

The initiative was discussed during a meeting between LNTA Director General, Hon. Princess Eva Cooper, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Ahmed Abdel Azim, to explore opportunities for collaboration in tourism development, investment, promotion, and air transportation.

According to a statement published on the LNTA’s official Facebook page on October 14, 2026, a major focus of the meeting was the possibility of introducing EgyptAir services to Liberia.

The proposed initiative is expected to improve international air connectivity, expand travel options, attract more tourists, and enhance Liberia’s access to regional and global tourism markets.

The discussions also covered potential cooperation in destination development, tourism marketing, medical tourism, ecotourism, cultural heritage preservation, and capacity-building for Liberian tourism professionals.

Director General Cooper expressed Liberia’s interest in drawing on Egypt’s experience in tourism development and cultural heritage management to support the growth of the country’s tourism sector.

She also disclosed plans for an official visit to Egypt to advance discussions on possible EgyptAir connectivity to Liberia, explore investment opportunities in tourism infrastructure, strengthen partnerships between tourism operators, and identify areas for technical cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Abdel Azim reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s tourism development and welcomed the proposed visit.

He also highlighted opportunities for professional training through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to South-South cooperation and capacity-building across Africa.

The engagement forms part of the LNTA’s broader efforts to expand international partnerships, attract tourism investment, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote Liberia as an emerging tourism destination.

Although the proposed EgyptAir connection remains under discussion, its potential introduction could create new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange between Liberia and Egypt.
