MONROVIA, Oct. 7 (LINA)- Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has called for transformative development in Liberia.
According to Madam Sirleaf, there is a need for stronger governance, institutional reforms and sustained efforts to improve the lives of citizens.
Madam Sirleaf made the assertion Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at a one-day Symposium organized by the Governance Commission for the Month of Good Governance for the year 2026 held at its Head Office in Sinkor.
She emphasized that Liberia’s development should focus on long-term transformation rather than short-term interventions.
She pointed out that reforms aimed at strengthening Liberia’s institutions and creating conditions for sustainable economic growth.
“Development vision has included stimulating productive sectors, attracting private-sector investment, creating employment opportunities for young people and strengthening institutions that promote accountability” Madam Sirleaf stated.
She stressed the importance of citizens, government and development partners working together to build a Liberia where development opportunities are inclusive and sustainable.
According to her, Liberia’s current development framework similarly places emphasis on human capital development, good governance and the rule of law, as well as economic development and sustainability.
Madam Sirleaf urged Liberians to support efforts that promote responsible leadership, effective institutions and inclusive economic opportunities, noting that transformative development requires collective commitment and sustained action.
