MONROVIA, July 3 (LINA) – The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Information has called on Liberians including opposition figures to collaborate with the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency in disclosing any link of individuals or government officials involved with the recent US$19 million drug bust at the Roberts International Airport (RIA)

The comments from the Ministry of Information come admit continued misinformation and allegations linking government officials and private citizens to the current investigation.

Speaking during the regular media press briefing Tuesday June 30, 2026 at the Ministry of Information,  Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah said the alarming falsehood from people believed to be from the opposition in the ongoing drugs investigation could undermine individual integrity.

According to Minister Piah, the government is open to accepting any link of individuals who may be associated with the current case indicating that such invitation is part of efforts to unearth the root cause of people involved in the drug situation in the country.

Minister Piah explained that disclosing information on anyone linked to the drugs investigation may help to enhance the investigation channel in saving the country’s future image and its generation.

The Liberia government on June 8, 2026 arrested a consignment of 198 plates of compressed cocaine worth around US$19 million  at the RIA.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency has yet to disclose key suspects attached to the commission of the crimes but Acting Commissioner Fitzgerald Biago has described the crime as a transmission organized criminal network, which needs more time to gather information including evidence.
