MONROVIA, June 9 (LINA) – In an effort to robustly regulate agricultural commodities in the country, the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) Acting Director General Dan T. Saryee has highlighted the agency’s proactive measures to ensuring compliance on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
“With the EUDR shifting the landscape of global trade, Acting DG Saryee outlined the proactive measures LACRA is taking to ensure compliance,” noted a LACRA release issued Friday, May 29, 2026.
The disclosure was made when LACRA head hosted a high-level strategic meeting with the United Kingdom (UK) Chargée’ d’Affaires, Mrs. Joanna Markbreiter to discuss the future of Liberia’s agricultural commodity sector,
According to the statement, the meeting also centered on the navigation of current sector challenges, and position Liberia as a premier global trading partner.
During the interaction, he said that the major highlight includes LACRA’s collaboration with the European Forest Institute (EFI) to develop a cutting-edge traceability platform for Liberian commodities.
For her part, Mrs. Markbreiter offered valuable insights regarding donor perspectives.
She highlighted that the duplication of functions among various government agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and LACRA can create confusion for international partners.
“It leaves you wondering, ‘Who should I talk to?” she noted, emphasizing the need for streamlined mandates to maximize donor impact and collaboration.
Despite the challenges, the UK envoy highly commended LACRA Boss and team for their incredible work and dedication.
She explicitly reaffirmed the UK strong commitment to collaborating with LACRA to ensure its vital mandate is fully executed.
