By Lloydson G. Flomo

MONROVIA, June 9 (LINA) — Members of the National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NUOD) have adopted an impeachment resolution removing the organization’s President, Peter Blessing Kerkulah Flomo from office, citing a loss of confidence in his leadership.

The resolution, passed in accordance with Article 10, Sections 1 and 2 of the NUOD Constitution, alleges that Mr. Flomo engaged in misconduct, including corruption, abuse of authority, conflict of interest, financial mismanagement, failure to advocate for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and repeated violations of the Union’s Constitution and by-laws.

Reading the impeachment resolution at NUOD’s office in Monrovia on June 1, 2026, the Chairman of the Resolution Committee, B. William Yarsiah, said that the allegations include the improper control of projects intended for member organizations, the solicitation of kickbacks from beneficiaries, unilateral decision-making, and the dissolution of member organizations without constitutional authority.

Other allegations include the failure to establish required governance structures, a lack of transparency in financial matters, and the failure to account for funds raised for the construction of NUOD’s headquarters.

The committee chairman further accused the former president of divisive leadership, incompetence in managing the affairs of the union, and failing to provide regular reports on the activities of the organization.

“In view of these allegations, the committee has deemed it necessary to impeach Flomo in order to safeguard the integrity, credibility, and constitutional governance of the Union,” Yarsiah told reporters.

The resolution was signed by 41 heads of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPWDs), representing more than the required two-thirds majority, along with members of the impeachment committee headed by Chairman B. William M. Yarsiah.
