MONROVIA, June 28 (LINA) – The two Senators of Montserrado County are cautioning the Government of Liberia to suspend the concessions agreement between it and GSL Cargo.

According to Senators Abraham Darius Dillon and Saah Joseph, the suspension of the concessions agreement and subsequent investigation will further reveal more discovery about the US$19.2 million drugs seizure at the Robert International Airport which has the propensity to damage the image of Liberia.

They alleged that several Liberians have been molested at international airports around the world as a result of the recent drug bust.

The Montserrado County Lawmakers made the assertion in a communication to the Plenary of the Liberian Senate on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Capitol building in Monrovia.

According to them, the drug bust has created serious embarrassment to the nation and its people which the Liberian Senate is appealing to the Executive Branch of the government to investigate adequately pending the concession agreement with the GSL Cargo.

They pointed out that the investigation will determine whether the concessions agreement will be signed or not between GSL Cargo and the Liberian Government.

Meanwhile, a motion was made by Grand Kru County Senator Albert Chie to ensure that the Montsertado Senators’ communication be sent to the Senate Committees on Judiciary and security for further investigation. The committee is expected to report to the Senate’s Plenary in two weeks.

Recently, a joint security operation at the Roberts International Airport, uncovered and confiscated 237.6 kilograms (198 compressed plates) of cocaine. This has occasioned an investigation by the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, several persons of interest have been named and some have already committed to the ongoing investigation.
