MONROVIA, July 5 (LINA) – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has reiterated his Administration’s zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, declaring that no individual, regardless of status or position, will be exempted from the full force of the law.
Speaking during a Cabinet meeting held at the Executive Mansion, attended by officials of the Ministry of Health and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, President Boakai described the fight against illicit drugs as one of the government’s foremost national priorities.
The Liberian Leader recalled that at the beginning of his Administration, he and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung voluntarily underwent drug tests to demonstrate leadership by example and underscore the government’s commitment to addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse in the country.
President Boakai referenced the recent seizure of illegal drugs valued at approximately US$19 million, stressing that the government remains determined to ensure that all those connected to the case are identified and prosecuted.
”No matter who is involved or what position they hold, nobody will be spared,” the President declared, reaffirming his Administration’s resolve to hold perpetrators accountable.
He called on Cabinet members to strengthen collaboration and adopt a more coordinated national response to drug trafficking and substance abuse, urging every government institution to recommit itself to protecting Liberia from the harmful impact of narcotics.
According to President Boakai, winning the fight against illegal drugs requires collective action, stronger enforcement measures, and unwavering political commitment to safeguard the country’s future, particularly the well-being of Liberia’s youth.
The President’s latest remarks reinforce his Administration’s ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of illicit drugs and strengthen law enforcement measures aimed at protecting communities across the country.
This Marked President’s Boakai 22nd Cabinet meeting and 7th under his administration as President of Liberia.
